Impact of the Canada Anti-Spam Law (CASL) & General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on Open Rates
As consumer protection becomes more and more paramount in the digital age, digital communications are facing more challenges. The CASL legislation (Canadian Anti-Spam Law) and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) in the European Union are two such pieces of legislation designed to protect internet users. We took a look at the effects of these two sets of regulations on unique open rates across different geo-locations. Canada and Australia maintain the highest rates, with Asian Pacific countries on the lower end of the spectrum. These differences do not necessarily indicate a higher marketing skill level in those countries, but rather being forced to comply with stricter regulations may lead to better, more appealing emails for consumers.
