Privacy Update: Current Trends and Developments
In this one hour online session Cassie Findlay provides an update on current developments in the regulatory landscape affecting privacy, including the review of the Commonwealth Privacy Act, and new laws facilitating data sharing. She will also look at the tsunami of technological and societal change that we are undergoing now, and the privacy implications of trends like the rise of AI, smart cities and more. Lastly, she will reflect on how the skills and understandings of recordkeeping professionals can be used to effectively manage privacy risks in this dynamic and evolving environment.
Cassie Findlay is a Principal at elevenM, a specialist privacy and cybersecurity consulting firm, where she works with government and corporate clients on a range of information and privacy projects. Prior to this she held roles with Gap Inc, Recordkeeping Innovation and State Archives and Records NSW. Cassie was the lead author of the current International Standard on records management ISO 15489, is a co-founder of The Recordkeeping Roundtable and a former Council member of the ASA.
